high school crush who pretended to sleep so i'd apologize

okay so i've always loved the vibe of empty classrooms in the morning, right? so all through middle school i'd get to school early. first day of high school i show up before anyone else and there's this guy already there. dude had like a tic or something. acted kinda unhinged. i was like okay we're literally nothing alike, i'm not talking to him.

but the guy had the vibe of someone super chill despite the weird tics? so he keeps initiating convos with me. turns out he was coming early to sleep before class started (this man was THAT exhausted). we're doing 30 minutes of talking every morning and suddenly we're on the phone constantly outside school too. our interests line up. i'm falling for him.

few weeks in i'm like "wait hold on. you said you come early to sleep but you're talking to me for half an hour every day. aren't you tired?" and he's like "wait do you NOT want to talk to me?" which. okay.

i backpedal immediately like "no no i meant like i don't want YOU to be tired" so he's all "okay got it" and just starts sleeping every morning when he arrives. i'm standing there scared to wake him up, literally pacing back and forth like an idiot.

then one morning i'm hovering over him all anxious and he opens his eyes and goes "just apologize already, dumbass" (he was faking the whole time??? the AUDACITY). so i apologize on the spot and we're back to our morning talks after that.

the thing is. he's literally ALWAYS asleep at school. hanging out with the scary intimidating kids. so publicly we barely know each other. but every time our eyes would meet he'd give me this tiny wave. god that was cute.

then sophomore year hit and they rearranged classes. we'd just say hi in the hallways sometimes. graduation came, we took a photo together, and then... nothing. no contact after.

but i randomly thought of you today out of nowhere. suwon high grad, class of like 2010-something¹. i hope you're doing well. i liked you a lot back then.
