Mom Loses Sleep Over Son's Girlfriend β Then Meets Her IRL

A mom writes about how she'd been quietly worrying about her son's girlfriend for years. Her son is 28, they've been together 7 years but apparently never exchanged blood types in 5 of those years. The girlfriend calls him 'oppa' (older brother term) even though they're the same age β turns out he lied about his birthday to seem older, and she just... went with it because she liked how it sounded. The mom also clocked that her son talks babytalk around this girl, a full year younger in speech than his actual age. When the son was briefly out of earshot, the girlfriend gushed: 'Oppa is so sweet because he never gets mad!' Mom: internally screaming.
So on Parents' Day, the mom and her husband finally meet the girlfriend β and it's awkward because both families had kept their jobs secret. The girlfriend's parents had told her the son's family were 'teachers,' which... wasn't quite right. Turns out the dad is an executive at a major electronics conglomerate and the mom is a high school teacher. The girlfriend, now nervous, asks what the husband does for work. He brushes it off as 'just a phone company employee.' The mom says she's 'just studying something new.' Completely lowballing it.
Despite all her earlier anxiety, the mom ends the post saying: 'The girlfriend said my son is warm and kind. I don't know what warmth even means when it comes to my own kid β but I couldn't sleep that night for a different reason.' Turns out she lost sleep not from worry, but from feeling moved that someone loves her son like that. Also the girlfriend's photo was so cute she felt bad for both the girl AND her parents. Chaotic mom energy, fully delivered.
