BF who rushed over just to say 'you look pretty today' for a year straight

What did you do today?' He did this for over a year. Setting aside the 'you look pretty' part — the fact that he asked 'what did you do today' every single day still blows me away. He's not the type to be witty or particularly warm, so I genuinely can't figure out what his intention was every day, what was going through his mind.
