bought an old camcorder at a flea market. there was a tape inside.

I wasn't going to post this but.

Okay so back in 2024 I was really into collecting vintage analog stuff. cameras, old electronics, whatever. found this 90s Japanese camcorder at a flea market in Seoul, little beat up on the outside but it worked fine so I grabbed it.

Got home. Turned it on.

There was already a tape inside.

Obviously I played it. First few minutes were totally normal, like genuinely sweet actually. Some kid's birthday party, parents laughing, candles being blown out. That warm grainy color old home videos get. A little melancholy but nothing weird.

Then around the 20 minute mark the vibe just. shifted.

The lights in the house on the tape were off. Camera was fixed, pointing at an empty living room. Empty couch. Dark window. Every few seconds there'd be this little *click* and the frame would shake slightly.

And then the last few seconds.

Screen goes black. Camera lurches sideways, points at a wall. And then in the gap under the door.

an eye.

I stopped the tape immediately. Rewound it. Played it again to make sure I actually saw what I saw.

The last shot was different this time.

The camera had slowly turned to face a mirror.

And in the mirror.

was me.

My room. My clothes. The back of my head. I was just STANDING THERE. This tape was recorded fifteen years ago. There is no version of reality where I should be in it. But there I was.

I panicked and tried to eject the tape. It wouldn't come out. Jammed or something. And on the little screen it just said:

"REC – 녹화 중" (recording in progress)

I pulled the power cord. Shoved the camcorder into the back of my closet and didn't touch it for days.

Here's the part that actually keeps me up.

A few days later I opened my phone's photo album. There was a video I didn't take.

Me. Asleep in bed. Shot from right next to me, super close, completely steady. No shaking at all.

And at the very end of the clip, something was pushing its head through the window.
