elevator horror story: 'who asked you to take me down?'

okay I was NOT going to post this but here we are.

I live in one of those newer officetel buildings in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. moved there because work is close and I do late nights constantly, and the place seemed safe. CCTV everywhere, 24-hour security system. I thought I was good.

so one night, past 11pm, coming home from another late shift. fingerprint scanner at the entrance, no problems. got in the elevator, hit 12. I'm scrolling through work stuff on my phone like always.

then the elevator stops at the 3rd floor.

doors open. nobody there. and then, with zero sensor alert, the doors just... slide shut on their own.

"the hell? is it broken?"

I brushed it off. looked back down at my phone.

and then something grazed my LEFT SHOULDER.

I looked up.

there was a woman standing right next to me. long black hair hanging all the way down, face almost completely hidden behind it. I did not see her get in. I did not hear her get in. the sensor didn't make a sound.

"um... what floor?" I said, super awkwardly.

she slowly turned her head toward me. lips trembling.

"...who asked you to take me down."

I felt my whole spine go cold.

"sorry...what?"

"you shouldn't go to the 12th floor." she looked back down.

and then she put her hand over mine. I was pressing the 12 button. her hand just... covered mine.

it was ice cold. and sticky.

I yanked my hand away so fast.

when the doors opened on 12 I basically sprinted to my room, slammed the door lock, and stood there hyperventilating.

next morning I told myself it was nothing. some weird person. I was tired.

but I went to the security office and asked to check the CCTV.

from the 1st floor all the way up to the 12th.

the elevator had only one person in it the entire time.

me.

after that things kept happening. doorbell ringing at 3am every single night. security footage from an empty hallway showing the outline of a woman. and at the far end of the 12th floor corridor, this low sobbing sound. a woman's voice.

turns out the building had an incident two years ago. a woman died by suicide inside the elevator. her boyfriend had left her, and she did it there.

but the part that got me.

she left a note saying she was going to get revenge on the man who told her to go down to the 12th floor.

I'm still in this apartment. I don't know why I haven't moved. please don't tell me you wouldn't have frozen too.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
