Ghost in my mom's dream turned out to be a witness request

I wasn't going to post this but it happened about a year ago and it still messes with me.

So my mom went out for an early morning walk and witnessed a car accident. A minivan hit a motorcycle and the rider went flying. Just... didn't move after landing. Mom was the only witness around and honestly she panicked, thought "I need to get out of here" and stumbled home feeling awful.

She was off all day. Kept dozing in and out. And then.

She woke up and there was a woman standing at her bedside. Head completely caved in. Covered in blood.

At that point mom still had no idea what happened to the motorcycle rider. Just this horrible image burned into her brain.

She was shaken for hours. Then around evening she finally pulled herself together enough to go take a bath, opened the bathroom door and

the same woman. Same state. Just standing there.

Mom gasped and the woman vanished. She spent the rest of the day just trying to process it like "why is she appearing to ME"

Next day the local paper ran the accident. The woman on the motorcycle had hit her head on the ground and died on impact. Police were investigating because it wasn't clear who ran the light.

Mom knew. She'd seen the minivan blow through the red.

And she realized. "Please tell them it wasn't my fault."

That's what the woman had been asking.

Mom called the police that same day. The minivan driver was COMPLETELY playing dumb, acting like he had no idea what happened. Kept it up so hard it went all the way to trial.

Mom is normally SO shy in front of people. Like painfully introverted. She was a wreck leading up to it, just visibly anxious and upset for weeks.

But then three days before the trial she just... changed. Her whole face lifted.

I asked what happened and she said "last night I talked out loud to her. I said 'I'm testifying for you, please give me strength.'"

"And she came to me in a dream. Her normal face. Pretty. She just smiled at me and left. When I woke up I felt calm for the first time. Like I can actually do this."

Mom said it felt like someone was standing right behind her, holding her up.

I was there in the gallery for the trial. That woman on the stand was NOT the mom I grew up with. She was steady, clear, unflinching. I genuinely didn't recognize her.

The third appeal is coming up in a few days.

Drive carefully out there. The person you killed might come find their own witness.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
