Horror story: The Curse of the 'Last Gravestone' in Brasov, Romania

I wasn't going to post this but here we go.

October 2019. A Korean photographer went missing at a cemetery in Brasov, Romania. His last photo was emailed to a colleague. In it: a gravestone with no name, no date. When the search team arrived, his equipment was just. sitting there. No trace of him anywhere.

I first heard that story from a local guide I met while traveling in Romania. He ran ghost tours, which is already a vibe. The second he found out I was Korean, he leaned in close and whispered to me.

"Do you... like photographing graves?"

I just smiled awkwardly instead of answering. He circled a cemetery on the outskirts of Brasov on a map and handed it to me with one warning: "Never go at night."

I went at night.

Thirty minutes from the city. Iron gates half-rusted over, old headstones tangled up the hillside. I got there at 11pm on a night where the stars were somehow brighter than the sun.

I pulled out my camera and started shooting. And this is where it gets weird. One gravestone kept pulling focus no matter where I moved. Black stone, no name, no date. Every time I repositioned, it was STILL centered in my viewfinder. Every single time.

The moment I pressed the shutter, a figure in white passed behind the grave. No footsteps. Nothing. Just a shape that moved and then didn't.

I lowered my camera to look around and felt something cold brush the back of my neck. Turned around. Nobody. But on top of the grave, which had been covered in black cloth, there was something that looked like a handprint.

I freaked out and went to grab my bag.

It was gone. It had been RIGHT at my feet.

Then my phone buzzed. A photo notification. Sent from me. Except I never sent anything.

The photo showed me standing in front of the gravestone. And behind me, just barely visible, was a shadow that didn't belong to anyone.

I ran.

Got back to central Brasov at past 2am. My camera's memory card was completely corrupted. I reported it to local police and they told me there was no such gravestone in that cemetery. The area I described didn't exist in any of their records.

Later I tried to upload the photo to my blog. My computer just shut off. When it came back on, the file was gone.

Except.

There was one file on my desktop I hadn't put there. STONE.JPG.

I opened it.

The nameless gravestone. Front facing, perfectly framed. And at the bottom, text that hadn't been there before.

"You have been recorded too."

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
