Horror story: the door behind exit 8 at Banwoldang underground mall

I wasn't going to post this but here we are.

Banwoldang underground shopping center in Daegu. Tens of thousands of people walk through it every single day. But near exit 8 toward subway line 2, there's been this urban legend going around for years.

"If the metal door behind exit 8 ever opens. Don't go in."

The thing is, structurally, that door shouldn't exist where it is. Most people have never seen it. But the ones who have... can't stop thinking about it.

Late summer 2022. I was putting together a local ghost story video series, focused on the Banwoldang area. Past 10pm when the shops close, the whole underground corridor goes dead quiet. Shutters come down one by one. The lights start cutting out near the subway entrance.

And that's when it happened. Right behind the vending machine next to exit 8. A door opened.

I saw it by accident.

Rectangular metal door. Paint peeling off it like an old hospital room. And inside? Just. Dark. Pure dark.

It stayed open for maybe a minute. Then something moved through it. A shadow. It looked like a person but the movement was SO SLOW. No footsteps. No sound at all.

I felt it run up my spine before my brain even processed what I was seeing and then I ran. I just ran.

Next day I went back with a camera.

No door. Vending machine was still there. Wall behind it, completely normal. Nothing.

But then I checked the footage from the camcorder I'd left set up like a CCTV.

10:47pm. The door opening. Right there on tape.

And at the very end of the clip.

A white hand. Reaching out from behind the door. Feeling around the frame from the other side.

Then the screen glitches. Recording stops.

I saved the file and got out of there.

Every night after that, same time, same dream. The door opening.

And always the same voice.

"Why did you close it? You should have come in."

That door near exit 8 still opens every night. Waiting for someone.
