Horror story: the faceless figure at the end of Hallim Port dock

Okay I wasn't going to post this but I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it.

Fall 2023. I was on a long work trip to Jeju Island and staying near Hallim Port¹, this quiet little harbor town. Not many tourists around. Every evening I'd just walk along the waterfront because that was literally the only thing keeping me sane out there.

One night I'm on a long phone call, walking around, and I notice someone standing at the very end of the dock. Right at the safety fence at the edge of the water. Black clothes. Head bowed. Completely still.

'Probably a fisherman.'

But the posture was wrong. Arms hanging straight down. Back curved. Not moving at all. Not even a little.

I shook it off and went back to my room. But then the next night, same time, same spot. Same person. This kept happening every single night.

After a few days I finally zoomed in with my phone camera to get a better look.

And. They weren't standing.

They were slowly... tilting toward the water. Like something was pulling them by the neck from below. Then my screen went black. Camera force-closed itself. Just. Off.

Next day I told the owner of a local raw fish place nearby. He shook his head.

"Yeah, people have been seeing that for years now. There was a woman who went missing in the water there. Whether she jumped or fell, nobody knows. But the last place she was seen standing was right there."

After that, he said, the haenyeo² and the fishermen stopped going to that end of the dock at night. Just stopped. Nobody talks about it, they just... don't go.

But I couldn't let it go. On my last night there I actually walked out to the end of the dock.

The closer I got the quieter everything became. The waves just. Stopped sounding like waves. Everything went weirdly still.

And then I was standing right in front of it.

It slowly raised its head.

No face. No eyes, no nose, no mouth. Just black holes where everything should be. And from inside those holes, not water sounds but WHISPERING.

"come in... it's... warm in here..."

I screamed and ran and I took the ferry off Jeju Island that same night. did not look back.

Recently I found this in a local online community:

"saw a person at Hallim Port at night. they were standing with their head down and then suddenly their face was... completely empty. please do not go near it."

So yeah. Don't go to the end of that dock at night. You've been warned.
