Horror story: the red umbrella lady at Yuseong Oncheon station

I wasn't going to post this but.

"Daejeon, Yuseong Oncheon Station. Rainy night. A figure standing in front of Exit 1, holding a red umbrella. If you talk to them... they follow you."

Summer 2023, I was stationed near Yuseong Oncheon Station for a long-term work project. My place was a small motel literally right in front of the station, and I'd take walks around the area every night after work.

That night it was raining. Around 11pm I was heading to the convenience store, passing the station, when I saw someone standing at the bottom of the Exit 1 stairs. Red umbrella. Nobody else around at that hour. They stood out.

They weren't moving. I couldn't see their face under the umbrella, it was just dark, but I had this feeling. Like they were watching me specifically. I ignored it, kept walking. But on my way back from the store I glanced over and they were still there.

Except they'd moved up one step.

Next day at the office I mentioned it and one of my coworkers went completely still.

"That's the red umbrella lady. She's kind of famous around here."

He told me carefully. A few years back, a woman near this area was being chased by a man and disappeared somewhere near the station entrance. Last time anyone saw her, she was holding a red umbrella. The CCTV showed her reaching the Exit 1 stairs and then just. Gone.

After that, on rainy nights, people started seeing the same figure at Exit 1. Face hidden. And if you speak to her, she starts following you. Some of the people who saw her ended up at the hospital weeks later, wrecked by nightmares they couldn't explain.

I didn't fully believe it. But I NEVER used Exit 1 after that.

Until one night I wasn't paying attention and came out Exit 1 by accident.

I stepped out and looked down the stairs and.

Red umbrella.

The figure was standing there with their head down. Then slowly. SO slowly. They raised their head.

And their mouth moved.

"You saw me... now it's your turn..."

I left Daejeon that day.

People still report seeing a figure at Exit 1 on rainy nights sometimes. But apparently the station CCTV never picks up anything.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
