Japanese urban legend: someone with the exact same name as me

okay so I googled my own name one day. (I'm a woman btw)

like dozens of results came up. researchers, CEOs, random people living completely different lives with the same name.

and then I found it. a personal homepage called '[my full name]'s page.'

looked like a beginner made it. totally basic. but the profile said she was my exact age, same hobbies. the forum had like 5 or 6 regulars who seemed to visit all the time.

then the diary entries started coming in.

'today was hot' type stuff. 'japan won the soccer match.' normal mundane stuff. except.

except I started noticing the content was... weirdly similar to my own life.

first time I clocked it was when I went to a baseball game. and that day, the site owner had apparently gone to the SAME stadium. I brushed it off. there are tens of thousands of people at those games, whatever, coincidence.

next day her diary said she made a mistake at work and felt kind of down.

I had also made a mistake at work that day.

and then the next day. and the day after that. every single entry reading like someone had just. copied my life. this went on for months.

then one day I checked the forum and the regulars were all wishing the site owner a happy birthday.

it was my birthday.

I was genuinely scared at this point so I decided to post on the forum. introduce myself, say hey we have the same name, something like that.

except I couldn't type anything. like at all. I tried everything, clicked everywhere, couldn't enter a single character.

and then I realized.

it wasn't a forum.

it was just a PAGE. one person had designed a static page that LOOKED like a forum with replies and regulars and everything. there was no comment section. she had written every single 'reply' herself.

I was so freaked out I emailed the site owner directly. something like 'hi, we've never met, but we share the same name and I noticed...'

the next day.

the entire site was gone. wiped. nothing.

and there was one new email in my inbox.

from an address I didn't recognize.

subject line: [found you.]
