Japanese urban legend: the hotel in Nagasaki with room 601

I wasn't going to post this but. okay. here it is.

There's a hotel in Nagasaki. It's real, it's still open, and I'm not naming it for obvious reasons.

So five friends from Fukuoka rode their motorcycles out to Nagasaki for a day trip. Plan was simple: look around, go home. But things ran long, one thing led to another, and suddenly it's too late to ride back. They book five single rooms for the night.

One of the guys, let's call him A, gets room 601.

He's lying in bed trying to sleep when he notices the curtains moving. Like, rustling. He gets up and the window is open. He's confused because he's pretty sure he closed it, but figures he's half asleep and imagining things. Closes it again. Lies back down.

Curtains start moving again.

Window is open. Again.

A is freaked out enough to call the friend in the next room. The friend just laughs at him. Doesn't take it seriously at ALL. But before hanging up he goes:

"you know what they say about haunted hotels, right. the charms are always hidden behind the paintings on the wall."

Click. Call over.

So now A is staring at the painting above his bed like it personally wronged him. He works up the nerve, flips it over.

Nothing.

Just wall.

He ends up sleeping with every single light on, just. watching the curtains. all night.

Next morning he calls all four friends into his room and tells them everything. They decide to search the room together, half as a joke probably.

And that's when it stopped being funny.

The painting? Nothing behind it. Clean wall. But under the bed. under the chairs. tucked into the corners where the walls meet the floor.

Charms. everywhere. like someone had plastered that room with them and deliberately put them ONLY where you wouldn't casually look.

All five of them checked out immediately and rode straight back to Fukuoka. Didn't say a word to hotel staff.

Which means room 601 is still exactly the same right now.

If you ever find yourself booking a hotel in Nagasaki. just. avoid 601.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
