Just Light

what's that bright light over there

what's that shimmering light over there

what's that brilliant light over there

i take one step, then another, getting closer

the moment the dazzling light blinds my eyes...

i walked straight into a mirror

LMAOOO okay so this is either the most mid poetry assignment ever or the most unhinged thing a kid has turned in. like the setup is actually giving existential crisis, you're reading it thinking oh deep philosophical moment about seeking truth or whatever. and then BAM. mirror. he just walked into a mirror.

the way he built it up. "what is this brilliant light" x3, each one getting more intense, taking these solemn steps toward meaning... and it's his own reflection. i'm CRYING. that's not even a poem that's a slapstick bit masquerading as verse. no because the audacity to make us think we're about to get some profound moment about human nature and instead we get physical comedy.
