I yelled at my mom over nothing and then found out what she'd actually been doing

Got proposed to a week ago. My boyfriend keeps pestering me about when he can come meet my parents at our house.

My dad's already gone. I told him that already.

My mom's sick, so I kept pushing it off. We have like... one room, one hallway. Our place is tiny and I was NOT ready to show it off.

But my mom? She has no idea why I'm hesitant. So today I come home and I'm just. Pissed. I walk in fuming and every single time I'm mad at her it turns into this knife that cuts her: "What have you ever done for me."

I was so angry I literally yanked open the fridge and I'm crying and shaking and THERE'S TWO HUGE PINEAPPLES just sitting there. "What the hell are these for?"

Then I hear my mom's voice from the other room.

"Oh honey, your boyfriend came by. He was waiting for you to get home so you could come together but you were so busy and I kept saying I wasn't feeling well so he came alone... and he bought me these pineapples because I said I was sick. He's such a good person. Really kind. Good looking too."

Everyone in this world is good except me.
