paid $58 for a family of 4 to eat at my $65/head wedding buffet lmao

okay I just got married last week and I am STILL thinking about this.

So I work at a company with multiple branch offices and I sent mobile wedding invites + called everyone I worked with up until last year. Just a "hey, come if you can" kind of thing.

After the wedding I'm going through the guest book and counting gift envelopes and. and. AND.

This woman in her mid-30s I used to work with? She showed up with her husband and TWO KIDS. Four people total. Left 80,000 won (~$58).

Now I know how this sounds but hear me out. I did a hotel wedding. The per-plate cost was 89,000 won (~$65). Per person. So she literally paid LESS than the cost of one plate for four people to eat at my wedding buffet.

I could maybe accept it as just "oh she came to celebrate, that's what matters" if she'd at least hit six figures. But 80,000 won?? Not even a round 100,000 won?? What does 80,000 even MEAN as a number???

Also!! I gave 50,000 won (~$36) per kid when each of her kids had their first birthday parties. Both of them. So I've sent this woman 100,000 won total and she showed up with her whole family and left 80k.

My husband is like "she probably just did the math wrong, she figured the kids are small so like 20k per person" and I'm like. okay. but also. that's not how any of this works???

And THEN. my desk neighbor told me that this same woman was asking around whether I'd be sending out rice cakes or fruit to the different branches now that the wedding's over.

yeah. the audacity is unreal.

So genuinely what does 80,000 won mean to you guys. I need to understand.
