The woman under the table in room 403 told me to get out

Summer 2023, I had a work trip and ended up at this cheap business motel in Gyesan-dong, Incheon. Nothing crazy. Room 403 on the 4th floor, small window, wallpaper peeling a little in the corner. Whatever, I've stayed in worse.

First night I had the weirdest dream. I was sitting in the room, same exact room I was sleeping in, and someone was under the little round table. Just. under it. Looking up at me. I couldn't see a face but the feeling of being watched was SO clear it woke me up.

Soaked in sweat. Checked my phone. 3:33am.

Next morning I went down to the front desk and kind of awkwardly asked if anything was up with the room. The guy behind the counter got this expression I can't really describe and said:

"Did something appear under the table? In your dream?"

I stopped.

"We get guests sometimes. From 403. They say the same thing. Someone looking up at them from underneath."

I went back upstairs and actually got on the floor and looked at the table. Old wooden thing. One leg had a crack in it. And on the underside there were these scratches, multiple ones, like something had been clawing at it.

That night same dream again. But clearer this time. Someone on their knees under the table, long black hair falling forward, looking up at me through it. And she whispered.

"this is my spot... get out..."

I woke up. Packed my bag. Left the motel at whatever ungodly hour it was.

Few days later I googled the motel name out of morbid curiosity and found an old forum post. Something like: "[motel name] room 403, former employee suicide. The round table in the room. A woman who used to mutter to herself alone at night."

The motel is still open. Room 403 is still bookable. And every now and then someone leaves a review that says:

"Couldn't sleep well. Kept feeling like something was watching me from under the table."
