underground parking garage B3, the black shadow that followed me home

I wasn't going to post this but I can't keep it to myself anymore.

I'm a regular office worker in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Nothing special. Clock in at 8am, clock out around 7pm, go home, repeat. That was my whole life.

That night I stayed late. Left the building around 11pm. The office building itself was pretty modern and clean, but the underground parking lot? Always gave me the creeps. Especially B3. The lighting down there was weaker than the other floors, bulbs flickering constantly.

My car was on B3. So I took the elevator down.

B1. B2. B3.

*Ding.*

The doors opened and I felt it immediately. That cold air. That weird feeling you can't put into words. But I was exhausted, so I just walked toward my car without thinking about it too much.

Then I heard it.

"Click. Click."

Footsteps. Somewhere in the garage. There were plenty of other cars parked there but I almost never ran into other people this late. I looked around. Nobody.

I kept walking.

Then, right behind me, I heard it. A sniffling sound. Like someone crying or breathing weird.

Every single hair on my body stood up.

I glanced at my rearview mirror out of habit, except I wasn't even at my car yet, I was just looking back. And in the dim flickering light I saw it. A dark shadow. Vaguely human-shaped. Following me.

There was no one there. There should have been NO ONE there.

I ran. Yanked the car door open, threw myself inside, locked it. My hands were shaking so bad I could barely start the engine. I floored it toward the exit.

I checked the mirror.

The shadow was moving toward my car. And it wasn't walking. It was GLIDING. Just smoothly sliding across the concrete floor like it had no legs.

I have never pressed a gas pedal that hard in my life.

When I got outside, the Seoul night air hit me. Clear, normal, fine. Like nothing happened.

I drove home telling myself I was just overtired. Seeing things. I said it maybe fifty times.

Then I took a shower.

Mid-shower, I noticed the bathroom mirror was fogging up. Normal right. except then letters started appearing in the fog.

"왜 도망쳤어."

"Why did you run."

I stopped breathing. I literally could not move. I wiped the mirror and the words didn't go away. I just stood there frozen for I don't know how long before I finally bolted to my room.

After that it just got worse. Every night the shadow was in my dreams. And I'd wake up in the middle of the night and see a dark silhouette standing right next to my bed. Turn the light on. Nothing there. Then at work. At the bus stop. At a COFFEE SHOP. Always just out of the corner of my eye, that same shadow.

I went to a shaman. (I was desperate okay. Don't judge me.)

She looked at my face and immediately said:

"You brought something up from underground with you."

I almost collapsed on the spot.

She told me never look back. Especially not in parking garages or dark spaces. Never.

I tried. I genuinely tried.

A week later, another late night, back to the parking lot. This time I parked on B2 on purpose. Just to be a tiny bit less scared.

The elevator opened. I walked straight to my car. Got in.

And then out of pure habit I checked the rearview mirror.

The shadow was sitting in my backseat.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
