I destroyed my aunt's mink coat after she ruined my limited-edition designer heels

okay so this happened at thanksgiving and I'm STILL shaking thinking about it. I collect shoes as a hobby and I'd saved up to buy this limited-edition designer heel. Like, overseas exclusive, cost me millions of won (we're talking like $1000+), and I kept it pristine in the box only wearing it inside the house.

so relatives come over for the holiday and I step away for two seconds while the adults are eating fruit in the living room. I go check on my nephew and THE KID is in my room wearing BOTH of my heels like robot feet, dragging them across the floor yelling "ROBOT LEGS!" and there's ALREADY colorful marker all over the toe box. I literally screamed. Lost it completely.

my aunt (the big one, not my mom's side) just laughs while she's cutting fruit and goes "oh come on, let the kid try things on. why are you being so dramatic? it's just shoes." I tell her these are limited edition, cost hundreds of thousands of won, and the marker destroyed the leather. She gets all righteous like "SHOES COST THAT MUCH? you're so materialistic, you don't even value money, the kid just scribbled a little, I'll buy you nice shoes from the market later." treating me like I'm unhinged for caring about my OWN stuff.

my mom's uncomfortable, my dad's telling me to shut up because relatives are watching, I'm FURIOUS. and then I see it. my aunt's prized mink coat just sitting there on the sofa. the one her husband bought her for his 60th birthday that she would NOT stop bragging about.

I decided right then I was not losing this.

I walk over to my nephew super calm. "Jun-woo, robot legs boring? wanna do drawing on something softer and better?" and I SPREAD that mink coat all over the living room floor.

kid gets excited, grabs the marker, climbs on it. I hand him a cup of grape juice he was drinking and just... pour it. "Oh look at Jun-woo doing art! so talented!" *claps.*

my aunt SCREAMED. Ran over shrieking "ARE YOU INSANE?? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS COSTS?" pushing my nephew, trying to save the coat but it was GONE. grape juice + marker + kid footprints = totaled.

I looked her dead in the eye and repeated her exact words back, word for word. "oh auntie, the kid was just drawing, why are you yelling? it's just a fur coat. I'll buy you a nice warm padded jacket from the market later."

she starts saying "that's not the same as shoes!!" and I go "exactly. to you my heels are just market shoes. to me your coat is a floor rag. so we're even."

the room went SILENT. awkward as hell. she's crying and freaking out, I pack my bags, lock myself in my room, leave immediately.

later my dad calls saying my aunt wants me to pay for dry cleaning. I send him the receipt for my shoes AND the authentication certificate and text her: "cover my shoes first, then we can talk about your coat."

then I blocked her.

people who treat your stuff like garbage need to experience it themselves. if you're getting stressed by holiday relatives being shitty, stop tolerating it. eye for an eye. that's the answer.
